These are sheets for teachers and students, describing recently developed experiments (equipment used, implementation, bibliographical references), the main observations, and showing measurements actually carried out with the platform's equipment. Some of these ("short instructions") are much less detailed, giving only the minimum needed to quickly set up the experiment. Some of these have been written with the help of students on placement. Depending on teachers' requests, other sheets may be drawn up (contact the person in charge).
Use of the Caliens interfaced CCD array (S. Zanier, T. Garçon): summary of the main precautions to be taken, description of a number of experiments: diffraction, Young's slits, dispersive spectroscopy (calibration, measurements), Michelson in an air knife, Fourier transform spectroscopy, Fabry-Pérot interferometer (finesse measurement, modes of a laser diode), geometric properties of laser beams, laser velocimetry.
Interferences produced by a thin plate (S. Zanier): description of the study of amplitude-division interference produced by a soap plate: bangs of equal thickness, spatial and temporal coherence, localization, Newton's tints and higher-order white, applications (Michelson air wedge, Newton rings).
Use of CCD spectrometers principle, characteristics, examples of emission, absorption and irradiance measurements (S. Zanier, S. Maffait) All sectors
Application of spectroscopy to the study of interference colors, fluted spectra (measurement of optical thickness, birefringence and rotatory polarization). (S. Zanier, S. Maffait) L3P, L3PC
Use of theJobin-Yvon monochromator HR250 (S. Zanier): use of motorization, recording of absorption and emission spectra on computer, resolution, problems linked to poor sampling of 100 Hz spectral lamps, choice of grating (notion of free spectral interval).
Fourier optics (Nicolas Cezard, P. Segonds, S. Zanier): Spatial filtering by diffraction. Detrending and strioscopy. L3P
Optics and acoustics (S. Zanier): observation of an ultrasonic wave in a fluid by ombroscopy or strioscopy, application to acousto-optic modulator/deflector. L3P.
Acousto-optic modulation (S. Zanier): study of the characteristics of an acousto-optic modulator.
Interferometric measurement ofrefractive index of a gas as a function of pressure, using a Michelson (S. Zanier). L3P.
Electro-optical modulation (S. Zanier): intensity modulation of a laser beam by an electro-optical component (based on the Kerr or Pockels effect), internal modulation of a laser diode, transport in an optical fiber. The modulation signal comes from a tape recorder, and the sound is fed back to a loudspeaker. Non-linear effects, distortions, ...Electro-optical modulation with Pockels effect (short notice) M1P
