IDEX-Training platform "e-CoLoS!

This platform is used to study the thermo-energetic comfort behavior of small buildings on the Grenoble and Milan Polytechnic campuses.

Thermo-energy sensors are installed in the following buildings:
  • La Maison en Terre (Saint Martin d'Hères campus)
  • The BBC (low energy consumption) room at the IUT Génie Civil (Saint Martin d'Hères campus)
  • Velux Lab (Milan Polytechnic)
  • Sports Center (Politecnico Milan-Lecco branch)

Measurements in campus buildings are accessible online and in real time by students (e-colos.inrialpes.fr, temporary site with login and password[1]).

They can follow the progress of 3 of the 4 buildings online:

  • temperature, inside, outside, hygrometry
  • emissions of fine particles and volatile organic compounds, CO2
  • Energy consumption
  • Wall temperatures
  • Ventilation
  • Solar gain ....

A "design office" activity, combining thermo-energetics, infiltrometry and mechanical diagnostic tools (vibratory analysis, seismic background noise, magnetic analysis for reinforcement detection) is offered to M2GC students through the LabNbook teaching tool, also financed by IDEX formation (public "mission").

A similar version of the activity is being developed on e-formation for foreign students and the general public.

Finally, IUT GC students have regular access to the company through teaching activities and end-of-study projects.

The originality of the work also lies in the pre-realization of teaching resources through multidisciplinary projects from various Phitem and IUT GC courses (ROBOT thermal and mechanical models, REVIT, PLEIADE, ANSYS, COMSO, 3DEC discrete elements, etc.).

This innovative experimental platform, available online 24 hours a day and funded by IDE-X Formation, involves multiple partners (INRIA, Grenoble School of Architecture, CAESUG, PHITEM, POLIMI, IUT GC, etc.).
UGA students and staff can log in using their AGALAN credentials: https://e-colos.osug.fr. Five years of data are available to them.

In addition, two seismic background noise vibration sensors have been added to the north wall (R60CC at the top and R12C9 at ground level). The measurements are part of a global collaborative network of sensors that is publicly accessible here: https://stationview.raspberryshake.org/
