Geosciences Platform

The Geosciences platform houses an educational collection of sedimentary, magmatic and metamorphic minerals and rocks, as well as polarizing and binocular microscopes for petrographic analysis of rocks at different scales. It also includes a map library (geological, hydrological and topographical maps).

Contents

The Geosciences platform is located in the Phitem D building. Its purpose is to teach geology and petrology, in particular through the macroscopic and microscopic observation of rocks.

Petrographic material

  • binocular loupes
  • desk lamps
  • ultraviolet light
  • polarizing microscopes (Leica, Euromex, Nikkon)

Educational collections

  • macroscopic minerals (single crystals)
  • sedimentary rocks
  • magmatic rocks
  • metamorphic rocks
  • thin sections (sedimentary petrology and endogenous petrology)

Cartography

  • Geological maps (1/25000°, 1/50000°, 1/100000°, 1/1000000°)
